Library Book Talk | Miriam Hirsch on Teach Like a Human: Essays for Parents and Teachers Online

Miriam Hirsch--Associate Professor of Education and Chair of the Education Program, Stern College for Women--takes education far beyond the classroom.

Teach Like a Human (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, 2020), provides strategies for parents and educators to encourage children to care about themselves, their communities, and the world we share.

Dr. Hirsch answers current questions:

  • Why do we (parents & teachers) need to manage sibling rivalry?
  • What does it mean to teach "out the box" and "between the lines?"
  • What are the lingering effects of COVID era education and how can we address them?

Drawing on her expertise in pedagogy, Dr. Hirsch explains how parents and teachers alike can deepen character, empathy, and insight--and, above all, find joy and meaning in the world around us.

Join Dr. Miriam Hirsch and Dr. Deena Rabinovich (Director, Legacy Heritage Fund, Jewish Educator's Project) in dialogue about the issues and challenges we face in “teaching like a human.”
