YU Library Book Talk | Engaging the Essence: The Philosophy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe

YU Library Book Talk | Engaging the Essence: The Philosophy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe Online

While the seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe's achievements in serving world Jewry are well known, his philosophical and halachic insights are seldom explored. Dr. Rabbi Yosef Bronstein, author of Engaging the Essence: The Philosophy of the Lubavitcher Rebbe (Maggid Press, 2024), will join Professor Daniel Rynhold to discuss the Rebbe's views on topics such as free will, the State of Israel, and the role of women.

This talk is cosponsored by the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

Rabbi Yosef Bronstein, Rosh Bet Midrash of Machon Zimrat Ha’aretz—a community learning center and rabbinical training program in Israel—teaches Jewish philosophy at Yeshiva University’s Isaac Breuer College. He received smicha and a PhD in Talmudic Studies from YU. His other recently published book is The Authority of Divine Law: A Study in Tannaitic Midrash (Academic Press, 2024).

Daniel Rynhold is Dean and Professor of Jewish Philosophy at the Bernard Revel Graduate School.
