YU Library Book Talk | Rambam & Other Treasures

Indiana Jones he’s not.

But Dr. Elazar Hurvitz will regale us with his adventures in Egypt, in his quest to uncover manuscripts and other materials. Join him as he takes us on a “tour” of both the Cairo and YU Genizahs, including his research on the original writings of Maimonides.

Expert in the field of Talmudic and medieval Jewish literature, creator and curator of the Eli Michael Microfilm Center for Genizah Studies, and Emeritus Professor of Bible, Dr. Hurvitz holds the Dr. Samuel Belkin Chair in Judaic Studies. His books include the 2-volume Catalogue of the Cairo Geniza Fragments in The Westminster College Library.
